XVII United States-Spain Council Forum

The United States – Spain Council held its 17th Annual Forum in Jersey City, New Jersey from June 22nd-24th. Since 1996, our Annual Forums alternate each year between Spain and the United States and have generated dialogue, debate and greater understanding on trade and commerce, direct investment practices, intellectual property, security issues and triangulation with Latin America. After the 2009 Forum in Valencia, the 2010 Forum in Washington, DC and the 2011 Forum in Oviedo, this will mark the fourth Forum under the Honorary Chairmanship of Senator Robert Menendez.

USSC members attended a luncheon hosted by the Council of the Americas for an open discussion with Mr. Juan Manuel Molina, the Deputy Chief of Mission to the Embassy of Spain. Mr. Molina gave a concise yet incisive macro review of Spain's foreign policy strategy and goals over the last two decades, and its nexus with the US and the Americas. Given that Spanish entities have become one of the top principal foreign investors in this hemisphere (including in the US), our members found the conversation to be timely and very interesting..."
