During the fourth day of the program, the young leaders visited the Elcano Royal Institute (above), a private think-tank committed to analyzing Spanish interests and figures in international affairs. Comparable to the Council on Foreign Relations, met with Elcano staff and discussed international political economy, security and defense in relation to NATO, and a growing movement political shift in Western democracies.
The leaders then visited the BBVA bank (above) where they were welcomed by Eva Piera, the Head of Global Public Affairs, and supporter of our sister organization, Fundación Consejo España-EE.UU. After a tour the newly redone headquarters, Miguel Cardoso, a chief economist, addressed the leaders during a working lunch and discussed the impacts of the 2008 global financial crisis, the growing shared and on-demand economy, and the implications of technology on employees' personal and financial welfare.
The leaders finished the day by visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affaris (above), meeting with the Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs, Ignacio Ybañez. He welcomed the leaders and talked with them about trade and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, defense and NATO, and education as development.
