Day 2

November 13, 2017

The second day of the 2017 Young Leaders Program began with a fascinating discussion on the current state of Spanish Foreign Affairs with Ambassador Fidel Sendagorta. Ranging in topics from Catalonia to the Russian hacking, the group discussed the different geo-political problems facing the trans-Atlantic alliance. After, the group visited the Cervantes Institute for a discussion with Director Juan Manuel Bonet and a private tour of the Institute’s art collection. Next, the group enjoyed a meeting with Ambassador Manuel Lejarreta and participated in a Welcome Luncheon with the board of the Fundación Consejo España – EE. UU. The day ended with a discussion on Spanish journalism, and in particular the role of women, with leading journalists at El País Newspaper. What a day!
