Day 5 Young Leaders Program in Spain, April 20, 2012

April 20, 2012

Last night's flamenco dinner show was highly enjoyable, and this morning the Young Leaders visited Abengoa, an impressive solar technology firm in Sevilla. After touring massive solar fields employing tower, parabolic trough and thermal storage technologies, the Leaders received a briefing about Abengoa's aspirations for the U.S. market, which include solar energy fields in Arizona and the Mojavi desert estimated to create thousands of jobs, utilize 85% U.S. parts and foster local research and development. This afternoon the leaders will return to Madrid and prepare for early morning flights back to the U.S. The group is extremely grateful to have gotten access to individuals and experiences that would not have been available to them as tourists, and have benefited immensely from the program and each other's knowledge and experience. We all send a big THANK YOU to the US-Spain Council and Fundacion Consejo Espana- Estados Unidos for making it possible. Hasta luego!
